The Kerala Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1998 has been passed by the legislature to prevent ragging in educational institutions. Directions have been given by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in SLP No. 24295 of 2006 dated 16-05-2007 and in Civil Appeal number 887 of 2009, dated 08-05-2009 to prohibit, prevent and eliminate the scourge of ragging. Ragging includes any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student. Committees have been constituted to prevent ragging as per norms laid down in this regard.
The Anti Ragging Committee of K MCT Law College
The Anti Ragging Committee is authorized to monitor the Ragging activities if any in the College, considering recommendation to the Anti Ragging Squad and take appropriate decisions including spelling out suitable punishments to those found guilty .
